Does it ever get on your nerves when people honnestly believe they're country?

I’m asking this in the horses section because i know alot of y’all people are country folk & ride western.
I might Not live in the country but i live close enough. I live in the suburbs, it’s basicly a redneck town it’s on the outskirts of the country. Three years ago i wouldn’t have DREAMED of being country, infact i came from a family of ‘normal’ people around here. Well, then i rode my dads friend horse for the first time (he lived out in the country) & i just loved it. it felt so natural, i felt like i was flying. I just kept going back and back and back to ride. Then eventually i got in a relation ship with my dads friends grandson, bradley. I go almost every weekend if not very weekend than every two weekends. I rode more and more and loved it. Then i got my first horse. and i love to ride brad’s fourwheeler.
I mean, i’m not from the country but, i’d love to live there some day. & by my book, i’m a country girl at heart. BUT, back to the point. Don’t you just hate it when these preppy girls walk around in they’re expensive little vintage cowboy boots, they wear them as if they think they’re a cowgirl. LET me tell you, a REAL country gal wouldn’t have neat kept boots. Theree would be mud and horse shit plastered all over them & she’d wear them with pride.
Do yall have girls like this where y’all live? Does it annoy you?

BTW, i live in TENNESSEE.
Sorry, i just had to get on here and ‘vent’ about this.
HA, this girl today actually had the nerve to tell me she was country. She was like, "I’ve been mudding once."
AS if that really makes her country.
This girl acts like she’s got a stick up her booty! She talks like a total snob.
Sorry, i’ve had a horrible day today! i just had to get on here and vent this.
SHAZAM, you’re a bitch.
You know, i don’t like to cuss much but sorry to say but it’s the truth.
We’re All intitled to our opinions! I vented mine! That was TOTALLY out of line. how dare you! People like you don’t even belong on here! People like you, bashing people who are ‘novice’ riders. well hell, i’ve been riding for nearly 3 years. i’ve put in prob. about 1500+ hours in improving my riding so far!
i’m VERY dedicated to what i do.
Just because i’ve got into riding in the last 3 years doesn’t mean i’m not as good as you. I’ve put lots of effort into it. Two lessons a week for a year a half. i’m at my barn 4-5 times a week riding my horse for 3-4 hours a day! I spent LOTS of time trying to improve and you dare say i’m very ‘novice’ and bad at riding and say i dont know anything just because i like to learn new things about horses over the internet?

Um…I don’t think that girls who wear fashionable western-styled boots are trying to say they’re "country." They are just trying to make a statement that they are fashionable and "trendy"…it’s their personal choices and behavior, that’s all… just like your behavior and choices cause you to choose to ride horses and wear dirty boots.

It does very much bother me when people try to pretend to be someone they just aren’t though, and when people try to make it seem like they know everything when they seriously don’t…especially concerning horseback riding and horse care…

You really need to not concern yourself so much with this…it really doesn’t matter, and your making yourself look really snobby by complaining about this…you’re making it sound like you think you’re better than girls who choose to dress with fashion trend. They are not better than you and you are not better than them. You’re just different.

That’s like saying everyone who wears a beret thinks they’re French.

      It’s just fashion.

Who cares? I mean, does it really affect you??

I guess I just have better things to worry about than what other people are pretending.

I ride, and I don’t pretend I’m "country". Whatever that even truely means.

      that bothers me. lol

my own cousin has all of these john deer and farmers daughter shirts and stuff and has pictures of her wearing them on her MYSPACE LOL saying shes all country… then one day i was like. "yyeah, were probably moving to kentucky and im getting a horse i cant wait" (something like that) she says "oh gosh kentucky is soooo boring" but seriously if she was a true country girl she would want to live there… (i was talking about the farm areas) and she said that was boring! gosh. and also shes like "i dont really like horses" next thing ya know "ugh my friends are making fun of me for being a cowgirl" i was like sureee they were. haha also im really hating how flannel shirts and plaid shirts etc are in style and girls wear them with boots. eeeerrrr. lol. i get what you mean.
but really its not thaaat big of a deal let them act how they want to its not too big of a deal but i get it.

Not really. I don’t much care, but on a related note, there’s a "country" bar here where I live, which is definitely horse country, but not too far out in the country, and lots of guys show up with fancy, shiny cowboy boots that have obviously never seen the side of the horse, and worse, Wranglers that are so short that if the guy were to sit a horse, his pants would ride half way up his calves. Ha! And one look at those soft hands. . . .yuck. So we all ride, and when one of those "neon cowboys" would hit on us, we’d start asking them about the horses they ride. . . .Definitely not my type of guys!

BTW I think it’s ridiculous when women walk around in the grocery store with their half chaps on – - tall boots I can sort of understand, as they can be difficult to get off, and she may have put them on at home then headed to the barn so doesn’t have shoes to change into. I’ve even seen people (usually women) wearing their full chaps around into stores. Maybe the zippers got stuck. It’s not a big deal, but most of us snicker because we figure she’s trying to let the world know she’s a "rider" which is silly in a town where 50% of the inhabitants ride horses in one discipline or another. Just digressing. . . .

I know more than a few real country girls who might be offended at your description. Even real country girls get cleaned up and dressed up once in awhile, just like city folk !!!!
